Patricia Nagel is an expert appellate lawyer. She has had 65 writs of appeal granted, and counting, in the Virginia appellate courts. As a result of her success and experience as an appellate attorney, she is appointed directly by the Virginia appellate courts to represent indigent defendants on appeal. In addition, she was appointed in 2010 and re-appointed in 2013 and 2016 to the United States Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals Criminal Justice Act panel to represent indigent defendants on appeal in federal court as well.
Ms. Nagel is an officer and member of the bar of the United States Supreme Court and is experienced in practicing in that court. She is a member of the bar of the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth and Ninth Circuits.
In addition to criminal appeals, Ms. Nagel is experienced in handling civil appeals.
